ENGIE Secures $102 Million Financing for 250 MW Khaba Solar Project in Rajasthan

ENGIE India has completed financial closure for its 250 MW Khaba Solar Project in Barmer, Rajasthan, securing roughly ₹9.82 billion (about $102 million) from the Indian arms of MUFG Bank, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and BNP Paribas. The financing enables the project to advance to construction, with completion targeted for the third quarter of 2026.

When operational, the solar plant is expected to generate around 650 GWh of electricity annually and avoid almost 180 kilotonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. ENGIE highlighted that about 80 % of the construction‑phase jobs will be filled by local residents, supporting regional economic development. The project is part of ENGIE’s broader push to expand solar, wind and battery storage capacity across India.
