ENGIE wins $230.8 million contract to build 400 km of transmission lines in Peru

ENGIE Energía Perú was awarded a public‑private partnership concession by ProInversión to develop four transmission projects under Group 1 of Peru’s 2025‑2034 Transmission Plan. The contract, valued at US$ 230.8 million, includes building more than 400 km of high‑voltage lines, constructing six new substations and expanding ten existing ones. The projects – such as the Miguel Grau‑Pariñas 500 kV link and the Muyurina‑Mollepata 220 kV line – aim to serve about 1.6 million people in the Piura, Lambayeque, Junín and Ayacucho regions, with commercial operation expected by 2031.

Myriam Akhoun, CEO of ENGIE Energía Perú, said the award reinforces the company’s long‑term commitment to a reliable and resilient electric system, while Managing Director Jimmy Aoki highlighted that “there is no transition without transmission,” underscoring the strategic role of the project in integrating renewable generation.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen Peru’s national grid, improve system reliability and facilitate greater renewable energy integration.
