ENGIE wins tender to modernize public lighting in Pisa
ENGIE has won a municipal tender to overhaul the public lighting system in Pisa, Italy. The project involves an investment of over 7.7 million euros and will span a 13-year concession period.
The initiative includes replacing 15,243 lighting points with new generation LED systems and upgrading 8,187 street luminaires. To enhance monument valorization and urban aesthetics, the project will implement differentiated light temperatures: 2,200 Kelvin for the Lungarni, 3,000 Kelvin for the historic center, and 4,000 Kelvin for peripheral areas. Additionally, 494 new lighting points will be installed, including 284 dedicated to monumental sites.
Infrastructure improvements will also address electrical vulnerabilities by rebuilding approximately 58 kilometers of main lines and 112 kilometers of rising lines, alongside 7.3 kilometers of new lines. The plan includes the refurbishment of 224 municipal electrical panels, which will be equipped with remote control, monitoring, and smart metering systems to improve fault detection. The project also features the restoration of 188 historic cast-iron poles on the Lungarni and the replacement of 1,290 supports.
