Engineering Events in Chile and Argentina Promote Female Leadership
In Santiago, the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad Finis Terrae partnered with Mujeres Ingenieras de Chile to host a networking breakfast and panel discussion that gathered nearly 45 women from academia, industry and public works. Participants included Dean Angélica Urrutia, Ministry of Energy ambassador Jocelyn Ann Black and CIGRE Chile director Andrea Armijo. The forum emphasized the need for more women in STEM, with Urrutia noting, “Para mí como decana y siendo mujer líder, ha sido un orgullo tener hoy día a todas nuestras compañeras de ingeniería…”.
Meanwhile, in Río Grande, Argentina, the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional’s Tierra del Fuego regional faculty launched its Semana de la Ingeniería. Secretary of Extension Fabio Seleme highlighted the week’s public lectures, technical seminars and a new university‑industry collaboration call, stressing that “la ingeniería tiene una finalidad humanista” and aims to link academic knowledge with local development needs.
