Enna bans outdoor work from 12:30 to 16:00 amid 40 °C heat
Mayor Vladimiro Crisafulli signed an ordinance that implements Regional Sicily decree No. 1 of 12 June 2026 after forecasts showed temperatures above 40 °C. The rule prohibits outdoor work between 12:30 and 16:00 in agriculture, floriculture, construction, quarries and logistics, including rider deliveries, wherever the risk map indicates a high level.
Employers must reorganise shifts, provide water, breaks and shade, and comply with the national safety code (D. Lgs. 81/08). Companies may request ordinary wage integration (CIGO) for perceived temperatures over 35 °C. Urgent public‑utility or civil‑protection activities are exempt. Citizens are advised to avoid the sun between 11:00 and 18:00, stay hydrated, keep windows closed, wear light clothing and watch for heat‑stroke symptoms, calling emergency numbers if needed.
