Enna Calcio faces crisis over delayed stadium renovations
Enna Calcio is facing significant economic and sporting challenges due to delays in the renovation of the Generale Gaeta Stadium. The club reported that the stadium, which was scheduled to be completed by August 29, remains closed despite the start of the Serie D championship. This delay has prevented the club from launching season ticket campaigns and securing sponsorships, as the team cannot guarantee a home venue.
The renovation project is funded by the Sicilian Region with 600,000 euros. The club has expressed its intention to seek legal protection for its interests due to what it describes as the municipal administration's failure to deliver the facility.
In response, Enna's municipal sports assessor, Giuseppe Trovato, stated that the delay was a result of a decision made by the previous administration and the former club management to postpone works until May to allow the team to finish the previous season at the stadium. Trovato noted that while the decision was reasonable at the time, it inevitably led to the current timeline slippage, and the current administration cannot perform “miracles” to rectify the situation immediately.
