Enna officials and Legambiente meet on Pergusa lake sustainability
On 28 July 2026, the Enna municipal building hosted a technical meeting between Legambiente Sicilia representatives—Angelo Di Marca, head of Protected Natural Areas, and Giuseppe Maria Amato, head of Water Resources—and city assessors Tiziana Arena and Michele Sabatino. The new municipal leadership, led by Senator Crisafulli, placed environmental sustainability on its agenda, reviewing projects such as the Enna Bassa urban park, resource‑circulation pathways, and financing options with the European Investment Bank.
A key focus was the Pergusa lake basin. Participants agreed on the need to fully comply with complex environmental regulations, overhaul the local wastewater system, and recover storm‑water currently diverted from the lake. They called for an immediate restoration of an integrated monitoring network for the lake’s chemical‑physical and ecological parameters, coordinated among municipal, regional and consortium entities, and for planned biological control of mosquito populations. Future joint meetings will involve the Enna Municipal Consortium, the Regional Territory and Environment Authority, and other relevant bodies.
