Ennigerloh Outdoor Swimming Pool Reopens After Norovirus Tests Negative
The Naturbad Ennigerloh in the Münsterland region was temporarily closed after a surge of vomiting and diarrhea cases among visitors raised concerns of a norovirus outbreak. Tests conducted by the Landesamt für Natur, Umwelt und Klima Nordrhein‑Westfalen and the Umweltbundesamt found no detectable norovirus in the water samples.
Following the negative results, the city confirmed that all shower, sanitation and contact surfaces had been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in coordination with the Gesundheitsamt des Kreises Warendorf. Swimming has been permitted again since Wednesday, ending the precautionary shutdown that followed an incident in which around 50 children were treated for severe gastroenteritis at a nearby clinic.
