Argentina's Entre Ríos approves partial tax relief for small merchants

The lower house of the Entre Ríos Provincial Legislature gave a media sanction to a tax‑relief package aimed at small commercial operators. The bill exempts monotributistas in categories A, B and C from the Gross Income Tax, waives the 12th quota of the Unified Monotributo and eliminates stamp tax on new and renewed commercial contracts. The measures are projected to cost around 3 trillion Argentine pesos and to benefit roughly 77,800 taxpayers.

An accompanying energy‑bill incentive will automatically credit the fixed charge on electricity bills for qualifying commercial users until the end of 2026. While provincial officials present the package as support for a struggling sector, commercial groups such as the Centro Comercial e Industrial de Paraná argue that limiting benefits to the lowest monotributo categories excludes most small and medium‑size enterprises. The national Chamber of Deputies also abstained from voting on the proposal, labeling it ineffective.

If enacted, the tax relief would remain in force until 31 December 2026, with a possible extension into 2027.
