Entre Ríos political tensions rise over party expulsions and electoral reforms
Political tensions are rising in Entre Ríos as the provincial Peronist Party (PJ) expelled senators Gladys Domínguez and Nancy Miranda. The expulsion follows their support for the provincial government's pension reform, which violated a party mandate. Some party members have criticized the decision, claiming the process was predetermined and lacks democratic depth.
Simultaneously, Governor Rogelio Frigerio is facing opposition from the PJ regarding electoral reforms. The governor has advocated for the elimination of the PASO (Primary, Open, Simultaneous, and Mandatory) elections, arguing that frequent voting cycles do not reflect citizen priorities. The PJ has labeled this stance an “institutional rudeness” and is pursuing legal action against the new Single Paper Ballot (BUP) system, alleging it creates visual deception for voters.
On the administrative front, Governor Frigerio has been conducting site visits to oversee infrastructure and economic development. These include inspecting emergency medical services in Concordia, reviewing sanitation works in the Manzores stream to prevent flooding, and meeting with citrus exporters to discuss opening the United States market and addressing labor and tax challenges.
