Entre Ríos Province backs Tres Arroyos plant to preserve 900 jobs

The government of Argentina's Entre Ríos province is intervening in the crisis at the Tres Arroyos poultry company. Governor Rogelio Frigerio and senior officials said the province will support the firm through debt restructuring with state utilities ENERSA and ATER, while guaranteeing a social electricity tariff, food aid and personal subsidies for workers.

Provincial Labor Minister Manuel Troncoso met union leaders from the food, meat and milling sectors to reaffirm the assistance programme and to negotiate a containment plan. The authorities stressed that although the dispute is between a private employer and unions, it is a matter of state concern because about 900 jobs are at stake.
