Entrepreneurs seek tax relief following Omiš fires

The Association Glas poduzetnika (UGP) has proposed an emergency relief package to the Croatian government for entrepreneurs affected by recent fires near Omiš. The proposal seeks temporary relief from taxes, tourist fees, chamber fees, and local levies.

UGP argues that aid should not be limited to those whose properties were physically destroyed. They contend that businesses with intact facilities also suffer due to a loss of guests, reduced accessibility, and diminished income. The association is calling for a predefined model of automatic relief for future natural disasters—such as floods or earthquakes—to avoid lengthy administrative delays.

In collaboration with the association Spasimo male obiteljske iznajmljivače (SMOi), the group is requesting tax exemptions through at least the end of 2026. Additionally, the City of Zagreb has announced a donation of 130,000 euros to assist Omiš.
