Economic relief efforts following Omiš fires

Overview

Following recent fires near Omiš, Croatia, local business groups and organizations have initiated various relief efforts to support those affected by the disaster.

The Association Glas poduzetnika (UGP) has proposed an emergency relief package to the Croatian government. This proposal requests temporary exemptions from taxes, tourist fees, and local levies, arguing that aid should extend to businesses with intact facilities that have suffered from reduced accessibility and loss of guests. The group is seeking relief through at least the end of 2026 and is advocating for an automatic relief model for future natural disasters.

Simultaneously, the Croatian Chamber of Crafts (HOK) announced it will distribute financial aid from its Solidarity Fund to affected craftsmen. The Association of Craftsmen Omiš has also launched a humanitarian campaign to engage regional chambers in relief efforts following the fire, which caused significant material damage and loss of life.
