Turkey probes 2009 Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu helicopter crash for FETÖ links

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that investigators have uncovered strong evidence linking the FETÖ network to the 2009 helicopter crash that killed Büyük Birlik Partisi (BBP) founder Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu. He cited a suspected F‑4 fighter jet that flew over the crash site, fingerprint traces of Adil Öksüz found in the pilot’s spouse’s home, and ByLock messages by the Elazığ imam that imply organized involvement. The inquiry has already led to the detention of 27 suspects, with 19 subsequently arrested.

Other political figures have added allegations. MHP deputy İsmail Özdemir called for the names of those who obscured evidence to be disclosed. A separate line of inquiry involves Enver Altaylı, a former intelligence operative, whose name appeared in prosecutor‑driven questioning and whose early knowledge of the accident has been highlighted by Yazıcıoğlu’s family lawyer. Additionally, BBP officials claim that German crash‑analysis expert Uwe Reibel was prevented from conducting a full technical inspection and was effectively threatened, raising further questions about the integrity of the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities stating that all leads, including the possible FETÖ organization behind the incident, are being pursued.
