Global community protests over infrastructure and environmental concerns

Various communities across Latin America and Spain are raising concerns regarding infrastructure, environmental safety, and public services.

In Argentina, residents in Quilmes are seeing the start of a full renovation of the Papa Francisco plaza, funded entirely by the municipality. Conversely, citizens in Berisso, La Plata, and General Daniel Cerri are protesting poor road conditions, mud-clogged streets, and the lack of flood prevention measures like embankments. In another instance, neighbors have requested investigations into potential contamination at a solid waste management center near the Calfuco stream.

In Spain, residents of Valmuel have filed over 100 objections against a proposed third large-scale pig farm near their town, citing concerns over water and environmental impact. Similarly, in Badajoz, a citizen platform has formed to oppose a biomethane plant due to potential risks to the Natura 2000 network.

In Uruguay, the Intendencia of Canelones issued an apology after a video surfaced showing a waste collector improperly discarding trash at a private residence. Meanwhile, in the Dominican Republic, Deputy Tobías Crespo has called for improved waste management in the Distrito Nacional to prevent health risks caused by accumulated refuse.
