Environmental conservation efforts underway in San Pedro Garza García and Morelia

In San Pedro Garza García, the administration has launched the ‘Hongosto’ initiative through San Pedro Parques. The program aims to educate citizens about biodiversity and the importance of the Fungi Kingdom within local ecosystems. As part of the ‘Mundo Verde | Reino Fungi’ programming, an educational activity is scheduled for August 28 at Mirador Garza Ayala Park to help visitors learn about fungal species and their environmental roles.

In Morelia, the Benito Juárez Zoological Park is implementing environmental strategies to protect urban fauna near the Tres Puentes construction zone. Specialized personnel conduct twice-daily surveillance patrols to monitor nests, burrows, and cavities. In coordination with the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa), the park manages the rescue, care, and relocation of animals at risk. Recent efforts include the assisted rearing of three rodent offspring found during the Morebús construction works.
