Environmental education and recycling initiatives launched in Honduras and Bolivia

Various environmental education and recycling initiatives are being implemented in Honduras and Bolivia.

In Honduras, the Bolsa Centroamericana de Valores (BCV) launched its ‘Cajas Verdes’ (Green Boxes) initiative at the Concepción Amador Government Pre-Basic Education Center in Tegucigalpa. The program uses practical activities, such as planting and interactive games, to teach children about environmental protection. BCV manager Edgar Gutiérrez has called on the Honduran business sector to join the effort to expand these educational programs across more communities.

In El Alto, Bolivia, the Autonomous Municipal Government of El Alto (GAMEA) is organizing ‘Ecotrueque’ (Eco-exchange) campaigns in Districts 14 and 5 on September 18 and 25. Residents can exchange 15 PET plastic bottles for seedlings to promote recycling and waste reduction. The initiative also includes the distribution of solid waste containers to local educational units as part of the municipality's environmental management strategy.
