Environmental education initiatives promote circular economy in Spain and Mexico

Various environmental education initiatives are being implemented in Spain and Mexico to promote circular economy principles and responsible waste management among younger generations.

In the province of Albacete, Spain, the government of Castilla-La Mancha and Ecoembes have launched a summer educational program. The initiative has visited over 30 towns, utilizing interactive storytelling and environmental theater to teach children about biodiversity, waste separation, and the importance of environmental conservation. This program is part of the region’s ‘Horizonte 2030’ Environmental Education Strategy.

In Mexico City, the National Association of Plastic Industries (ANIPAC) and the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) held the eleventh edition of the ‘Los Plásticos en tu Vida’ fair. The event focused on informing students about the applications and benefits of plastics, as well as the opportunities within the circular economy. Activities included demonstrations of the recycling process, waste separation techniques, and workshops on material recovery to encourage more responsible consumption and reuse.
