Environmental initiatives advance in Bolivia and Ecuador
In Bolivia, youth in El Alto have completed training as environmental facilitators focused on ecological conversion and socio-environmental justice. The program, organized by the Diocese of El Alto through the Virgen del Rosario parish, aims to empower young leaders to promote environmental awareness within their communities. As a next step, participants will travel to the Bolivian Amazon to engage with the communities of Tocaña and Cusilluni and visit a wildlife refuge to connect theoretical learning with local conservation realities.
In Ecuador, the Institute of Geological and Energy Research (IIGE) conducted a technical training session for the Maquita Foundation in Guayaquil. Funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the initiative focuses on energy efficiency within the agro-industrial sector. The training covered technical evaluations including biodiesel boiler testing, emission measurements in cocoa dryers, and electrical system assessments to improve operational sustainability.
