Environmental initiatives focus on forest conservation and sustainable tourism in Italy
In Camporosso, Valcanale, the “Sentiero del Faggio Secolare” (Path of the Secular Beech) is set to be inaugurated on October 10. Developed as part of the European REGENERATE project—an Interreg VI-A Italy-Austria initiative—the path enhances an existing natural route to promote forest knowledge and sustainable tourism. The trail features natural art installations created in collaboration with the AESON Festival, centered around a centuries-old beech tree stump that serves as a symbol of forest regeneration and ecosystem transformation.
Separately, the University of Udine, in partnership with the Otonga Foundation, will host a meeting titled “Forests at Risk” on October 6. The event features biologist and entomologist Giovanni Onore, who will discuss the critical state of tropical forests, specifically in Ecuador. The discussion aims to analyze the local and global effects of deforestation, biodiversity loss, and consumer responsibility regarding imported deforestation.
