Environmental waste management initiatives launched in Peru and Ecuador

Environmental initiatives are underway in Peru and Ecuador to promote waste management and conservation. In Paracas, Peru, the National Water Authority (ANA) led a collaborative cleanup of El Chaco Norte beach. The effort involved students, local authorities, fishermen, and residents working to collect and segregate waste to protect coastal ecosystems and water quality.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, the ‘¡Ponte DESPI!’ campaign, driven by GTREES, is engaging approximately 2,900 students and their families in the collection of electronic and electrical waste. Participants are bringing unused household items, such as old televisions, printers, and small appliances, to schools. These items are then transferred to authorized environmental managers for classification and recycling.
