Environmentalists protest renewable energy models in Valencia

Environmental groups in the Valencian interior are organizing a bus route known as the ‘Tour-Malet’ to protest the current renewable energy model. The initiative, organized by several groups including the Coordinadora Valenciana per la Ubicació Racional de les Energies Renovables, aims to highlight concerns regarding the installation of large-scale renewable energy plants.

Participants argue that these projects, while marketed as green energy and ecological transition, risk turning the region into a ‘sacrifice zone’ by damaging land, water, local economies, and public health. The route covers several locations, including Turís, the Ayora-Cofrentes Valley, Llutxent, Llíria, and Casinos. Protesters claim these developments lack adequate territorial planning and sufficient public participation, leading to soil loss and concentrated environmental impacts.
