Envision Group activates AI-managed 12.8 GWh battery storage in China
Envision Group has completed the integration of an artificial intelligence (AI) management system into its 12.8-gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery storage network in northern China. The 4-GWh flagship plant at the Envision Jingyi Chagan Hada Energy Storage Power Station is potentially the world's largest single-site electrochemical energy storage facility.
The AI system incorporates machine learning models to automate real-time operational decisions, monitor cell thermal behavior, and coordinate charging and discharging cycles based on grid conditions. By interfacing with local electricity spot markets to analyze price trends and demand forecasts, the predictive software is estimated to increase lifetime revenue by approximately 20 percent compared to conventional storage assets.
The facility reached full commercial operation after passing grid verification testing and a 72-hour trial run in the winter temperatures of the Inner Mongolian steppe. The Chagan Hada plant serves as a central anchor for a broader storage network across Inner Mongolia, bringing Envision's total operational capacity in the region to over 14 GWh.
