Envision launches massive renewable-powered AI data center in China

Green technology company Envision has launched the Galaxy Campus in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, featuring an AI data center that the company describes as the largest in the world. Spanning approximately 120,000 square meters, the facility is designed to connect directly to wind and solar power sources rather than relying solely on the regional grid.

To manage the high energy demands of AI tasks, Envision utilizes a proprietary AI Power System to coordinate renewable energy, dedicated transmission infrastructure, and large-scale energy storage systems. Once fully completed, the project is designed to reach a capacity of over 2 GW, providing one million PFLOPS of AI computing power and supporting up to one million AI accelerators.

Ricky Zheng, General Manager of Envision’s AI Data Center division, stated that the integration of renewable energy and specialized infrastructure is necessary to provide stable, low-cost green electricity for such massive scale. Envision claims this design could achieve a computing capacity per square meter ten times higher than conventional data centers, though these figures have not been independently verified.
