E.ON Drive launches megawatt charging station in Czech Republic

E.ON Drive has opened the first Megawatt Charging System (MCS) station in the Czech Republic, located at a highway rest area near the D1 motorway in Mořice, Olomouc Region. The facility provides a charging power of one megawatt (1000 kW), making it the first in the country to feature a connector capable of such high output.

According to Martin Klíma, Director of E.ON Drive Infrastructure for Central and Eastern Europe, the Czech Republic is only the second country in Central Europe to implement this technology. The station is designed to support the logistics industry by significantly reducing charging times for electric heavy-duty trucks. The goal is to allow vehicles to recharge substantially during mandatory driver safety breaks, thereby making electric freight transport more viable.

The project follows a previous 75 million CZK investment in the location. This new high-power capability significantly exceeds the company's previous 600 kW station in Dolní Dvořišti.
