EOPYY and POSSASDIA negotiate CGM reimbursement for diabetes patients
The National Organization for the Provision of Health Services (EOPYY) and the Panhellenic Federation of Diabetes Associations (POSSASDIA) held a working meeting to discuss critical issues affecting individuals with diabetes. A primary focus of the discussion was the reimbursement of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems for patients with Type 2 diabetes undergoing intensive insulin therapy.
EOPYY Administrator Athanasios Zamani confirmed that the reimbursement process will proceed based on a proposal already submitted to the Minister of Health. The scope of coverage will depend on the funding allocated by the Ministry of Health, which has not yet been finalized. The goal is to complete negotiations by the end of autumn so that reimbursements can begin in the new year.
Additionally, POSSASDIA reiterated its request for an increase in the supply of testing strips for individuals with Type 1 diabetes who utilize CGM technology. The meeting emphasized the need for improved access to modern medical technologies and consistent therapeutic care for diabetic patients.
