Epirus Region calls for relocation of Pedini industries

Epirus Regional Governor Alexandros Kachimanis has stated that the relocation of industries located in the wider Pedini area of the Ioannina Municipality must be addressed by the Ministry of Environment and the Municipality of Ioannina.

During a Regional Council meeting, Kachimanis cited environmental licensing data regarding several animal feed production facilities, including those operated by ‘Theod. Kantzas AE’, ‘Th. Nitsiakos AE’, ‘APSI I Pindos’, and ‘Biozois AE’. While these units are environmentally licensed, the deadline for their removal has been extended pending the approval of a designated reception zone within the administrative boundaries of the local municipality or a neighboring one.

Additionally, the new Spatial Plan for Industry and Supply Chain (EHP-B) identifies an ‘Informal Industrial Concentration’ along the Egnatia Odos between Pedini and Bafra. The plan proposes prioritizing these areas as Production and Business Activity Zones to facilitate the creation of Business Sanitization Parks.
