Epirus regional industrial and policy discussions

Overview

Epirus Regional Governor Alexandros Kachimanis has called upon the Ministry of Environment and the Municipality of Ioannina to address the relocation of industries in the Pedini area. Citing environmental licensing data, the Governor noted that several animal feed production facilities, such as ‘Theod. Kantzas AE’ and ‘Biozois AE’, have had their removal deadlines extended while authorities seek to approve a designated reception zone.

Furthermore, the Spatial Plan for Industry and Supply Chain (EHP-B) has identified an ‘Informal Industrial Concentration’ near the Egnatia Odos. This plan suggests prioritizing these areas as Production and Business Activity Zones to establish Business Sanitization Parks.

In response to regional issues, a high-level delegation of Greek government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Thanassis Kontogeorgis and Minister of Labor Niki Keramei, is scheduled to visit the Epirus region. The two-day visit, centered in Ioannina, will involve expanded discussions on regional matters and conclude with a keynote speech by Vice President Kostis Hatzidakis.
