Equatorial Guinea and Ecuador announce new cabinet and provincial officials

President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea signed Decree No. 61/2026 on 25 June, naming a slate of secretaries of state for the new government. The appointments include María Luisa Mangue Ondo for the Presidency, José Ondo Ondo Nchama for National Security (migration), Mari Cruz Evuna Andeme for Foreign Affairs, and Miguel Nguema Ndong Obono for Defence, among others covering finance, justice, education, health and gender equality.

In Ecuador’s southern province of Loja, Governor Daniel Noboa Azin appointed Juan Carlos Álvarez Maldonado as provincial governor on 6 June 2026 and began a series of local executive changes. New officials include Víctor Hugo Rivera Salas as Intendant General of Police, Eduardo Jara Guamán as political chief of Pindal, Gloria Lissette Vargas Yaguachi as national police commissioner in Pindal, Helmer Castillo Cabrera in Gonzanamá, and José Antonio Rodríguez in Catamayo, among others.
