Equinor and Aker BP discover gas field in North Sea

Equinor and Aker BP have discovered gas and condensate in the Linga area on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) within the North Sea. The discovery was made during drilling at the 25/7-13 exploration well, located approximately 205 km west of Stavanger and 16 km northwest of the Balder field.

Preliminary estimates suggest the recoverable resources at the Linga discovery range between 0.1 and 2.1 million barrels of oil equivalent. The well reached a vertical depth of 4,606 meters below sea level, encountering gas and condensate within sandstone layers of the Draupne formation.

While no well testing was conducted, the drilling program provided significant data and hydrocarbon samples for evaluation. The partners are currently reviewing the results alongside data from previous wells to determine the potential for further exploration and development in the area.
