Eramet to seek RIGI for US$350 million lithium expansion in Salta
French mining company Eramet has announced its intention to apply for the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) to expand its lithium project, Centenario-Ratones, located in Salta, Argentina.
The proposed expansion involves a potential additional investment of approximately US$350 million. If approved, the project aims to increase the annual production capacity of lithium carbonate by 11,000 tons, supplementing the current production of 24,000 tons. Eramet has been active in the Argentine lithium sector since 2011.
The announcement followed meetings in Paris between Argentine officials, including General Secretary of the Presidency Karina Milei and Economy Minister Luis Caputo, and representatives from French companies. During the same trip, the tourism chain Huttopia also announced plans to begin operations in Argentina with a new site in Mar Azul.
