Erdemir receives approval for 2.8 billion TL solar plant in Van
Erdemir, a company operating under the OYAK Maden Metalürji Group, has received Environmental Impact Assessment (ÇED) approval for a new solar power plant project in the Çaldıran district of Van.
The project is planned to be implemented across 113.4 hectares with an investment cost of approximately 2.8 billion TL. The facility will feature 185,600 solar panels, each with a capacity of 625 Wp, and 243 inverters. The plant is expected to have a total capacity of 85 MWe/116 MWm.
Once fully operational, the plant is projected to produce roughly 200 million kWh of electricity annually. This energy is intended to meet Erdemir’s own electricity consumption, supporting the company’s goals to increase renewable energy usage, manage energy costs, and reduce carbon intensity in steel production.
