Erdoğan announces 1 million TL principal payments for fund liquidation

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced following a Cabinet meeting that principal payments of up to 1 million Turkish Lira will begin this month, pending the passage of a new law regarding fund liquidation. The initiative aims to address issues of unjust enrichment and market manipulation.

Erdoğan stated that legal actions have been taken against 282 individuals, including board members of fund companies, with 84 arrests and 27 arrest warrants issued. He emphasized that those who gained unfair profits through speculation and manipulation will be held accountable, asserting that the government's priority is to manage the process transparently and fairly without using public resources.

Additionally, the President addressed the extradition of criminals, noting that 294 individuals were returned to Turkey in the first nine months of 2026, with another 736 brought back through various search operations.
