Erdoğan discusses bilateral ties and regional reconstruction in New York

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. The leaders explored opportunities to increase trade volume, specifically within the energy, infrastructure, and defense manufacturing sectors. President Erdoğan also extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to attend the COP31 summit to be held in Turkey.

In separate discussions with business leaders in New York, President Erdoğan stated that the Turkish construction sector is prepared to lead regional reconstruction efforts. He highlighted that future projects would include the rebuilding of roads, ports, power plants, housing, and factories in conflict-affected areas such as Syria, Gaza, and Ukraine.

Additionally, Erdoğan noted that strategic cooperation with the United States is evolving across various sectors, including energy and aviation. He emphasized that the Turkish defense industry now meets NATO standards and is capable of contributing to the security of its allies, while also noting increased investments in artificial intelligence and industrial infrastructure.
