Erdogan warns Israel not to undermine US‑Iran peace deal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a joint news conference in Istanbul with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that any lasting peace in the Middle East must be backed by regional countries and that Israel must not be allowed to “dynamite” the U.S.–Iran agreement mediated by Pakistan. He described the Israeli government as “war‑addicted” and said, “We are closely following the Israeli administration’s attempts to dynamite the U.S.–Iran deal… The current war‑addicted Israeli government must not be allowed to drown our geography in the smell of gunpowder and blood again.”

Erdogan stressed Turkey’s NATO membership, its proximity to Iran, and its condemnation of Israeli military actions in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria. He reiterated Turkey’s plan to deepen cooperation with Pakistan in energy, transport, critical minerals, information technology and defence, targeting a bilateral trade volume of $5 billion. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar added that Turkish firms will contribute to projects in Pakistan and share expertise as Pakistan restructures its electricity sector. The remarks were made after both delegations attended a business forum in Istanbul.
