Munich police arrest four suspects in Oktoberfest theft ring
Munich police have arrested four suspects belonging to a professional theft ring operating during the Oktoberfest. The group is believed to have traveled to the festival specifically to commit crimes.
The investigation began after an American visitor reported that his mobile phone had been stolen and replaced with a dummy device, alongside the theft of a bracelet tracker. Authorities noted that fraudulent purchases totaling several thousand euros were made using the stolen phone.
Following video analysis and cooperation with French police, investigators identified and arrested a 29-year-old suspect. Two additional French nationals, aged 27 and 34, were later apprehended at a hotel in Munich. Police recovered numerous high-value items, clothing, and mobile phones suspected to be from previous thefts during the search.
