Mia Bieniemy Hospitalized After Son Elijah Charged in Virginia Shooting

On the night of July 26‑27 2026, 57‑year‑old Mia Bieniemy was shot multiple times inside the family home on Northpark Drive in Ashburn, Virginia. She was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition after sustaining serious injuries to her chest and arm.

Her 27‑year‑old son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, was arrested at the scene and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 31, 2026.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was at the team's training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, when the incident occurred and missed the following practice. The Chiefs issued a brief statement saying they are aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family and offered thoughts and prayers. Head coach Andy Reid also expressed support for the family.
