Ericsson secures major network deployment deals with NTT DOCOMO and AT&T
Ericsson has secured two significant telecommunications contracts with major operators in Japan and the United States.
In Japan, NTT DOCOMO has selected Ericsson's next-generation RAN Compute platform for its 5G networks. The platform utilizes Ericsson's in-house silicon and is designed to be AI-native, supporting artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. The company claims the platform can provide up to twice the capacity of previous generations while consuming less than half the energy, a factor critical for managing high power costs in Japan.
In the United States, AT&T has chosen Ericsson to supply 600 MHz dual-band radios to operationalize spectrum acquired from EchoStar. This deployment will utilize eight-receiver (8RX) technology to enhance uplink capacity. The equipment supports both 600 MHz Band 71 and 700 MHz Band 14, allowing AT&T to improve coverage and reliability in rural, suburban, and indoor environments.
