Erlangen road closure forces major bus line detours

From 2 June to 14 September 2026 the Dechsendorfer Damm in Erlangen will be closed to all traffic for road‑work construction. All regional bus routes 202, 202E, 203, 203E, 205 and the school line 254 are affected and will be rerouted, with most services now starting and ending at the Erlangen bus station.

Key stops such as Hugenottenplatz, Altstadtmarkt, Martin‑Luther‑Platz, Schlachthof and St. Johann will be omitted. Passengers in the Alterlangen area are directed to the temporary “Schulzentrum West” stop, which is served by additional school‑time buses. The construction may cause longer travel times and passengers are advised to plan accordingly.

Detailed detour routes and new timetables will be posted on the VGN website and the Erlangen city utilities portal. The changes also affect connections to nearby towns such as Weisendorf and Höchstadt.
