ERPAD project launches water efficiency initiative for Italy and Tunisia

The ERPAD (Eau Ressource Pour l’Agriculture de Demain) project, funded by the Interreg NEXT Italy-Tunisia program, has launched a call for interest to improve water resource efficiency in the agricultural sector. Led by Microfinanza Srl in partnership with the University of Catania, FORIS, and the Institut Supérieur Agronomique de Chott Mariem, the initiative aims to promote sustainable water management and facilitate knowledge exchange between Sicily and Tunisia.

The program targets fruit-growing companies specializing in citrus, fresh fruit, nuts, or exotic fruits. Eligible businesses must operate in the Sicilian provinces of Catania, Messina, and Ragusa, or in the Tunisian governorates of Sousse and Nabeul.

Selected companies will receive technical assistance, including water balance analysis, identification of efficiency improvements, business plan development, and support in finding financing opportunities. The deadline for applications is September 20, 2026.
