Overview
Various initiatives focused on water resource management and environmental resilience have been launched in Italy and Tunisia.
In the Italy-Tunisia cooperation framework, the ERPAD project has opened a call for interest to enhance water efficiency within the agricultural sector. This initiative, targeting fruit-growing companies in Sicily and specific Tunisian governorates, provides technical assistance and business planning to promote sustainable water use.
Within Italy, educational and research efforts are also expanding. The Livenza Tagliamento Acque project has launched an environmental education program for schools in several provinces to teach water value through technology and biodiversity. Concurrently, the Horizon Europe-funded ‘SpongeScapes’ project is conducting research into the ‘sponge function’ of territories, studying how soil and vegetation can mitigate floods and droughts through nature-based infiltration systems.
