Erzurum Culture Route Festival showcases traditional crafts and arts

The Erzurum Culture Route Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is showcasing the region's cultural heritage through various arts, literature, and traditional craft workshops.

At the Erzurum Olgunlaşma Institute, participants took part in a felt needlework workshop led by instructor Müjgân Hellaç. During the session, attendees used needles to shape felt wool into circular forms, which were then assembled into handmade earrings using specialized apparatus. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants to learn techniques that can be applied to various decorative items, including jewelry, toys, and clothing.

Other festival highlights include an exhibition titled ‘The Elegance of Erzurum Ladies from Seljuk to the Present’ at the Erzurum Olgunlaşma Institute, featuring historical garments ranging from 1876 to 1930. Additionally, the Erzurum Museum hosted a carpet weaving workshop focusing on traditional Turkish knotting techniques using natural materials like wool, silk, and cotton. The festival also features literary discussions and the ‘Cinema on the Roads’ project, which brings film screenings to various districts via a mobile cinema truck.
