Esenler hospital abandoned equipment revealed after closure

Footage has emerged from inside a closed hospital in Esenler, Istanbul, which was shut down following the “Newborn Gang” investigation. The facility, which has been inactive for nearly two years, contains abandoned medical equipment, including neonatal incubators, various medical devices, computers, medicines, and surgical supplies.

Content creator Mustafa Kurt recorded the interior of the building for documentary purposes, noting that the operating rooms and intensive care units remain largely as they were left. Kurt reported that he entered the building secretly and sustained an injury during the process. He declined to disclose the specific name of the hospital to prevent theft or further misuse of the site.

The investigation into the “Newborn Gang” began in 2023 following reports to the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate. This led to a probe by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In April 2024, operations resulted in the detention of 47 suspects, and several associated hospitals had their licenses revoked.
