Esenler Municipality launches Sezai Karakoç reading program
Esenler Municipality in Istanbul is launching an eight-week reading program titled “Sezai Karakoç Okumaları” to honor the literary and intellectual legacy of the Turkish poet and thinker Sezai Karakoç. Led by literary researcher Prof. Dr. M. Fatih Andı, the program is scheduled to begin on November 10 at the Dr. Kadir Topbaş Culture and Art Center.
The workshop will explore Karakoç’s extensive body of work, ranging from his poetry to his philosophical prose. Participants will examine his poetry collection “Gün Doğmadan” alongside major prose works such as “Yitik Cennet,” “Kıyamet Aşısı,” and “Diriliş Neslinin Amentüsü.”
The curriculum aims to provide a deep dive into Karakoç’s aesthetic views, his concept of “Diriliş” (Resurrection), and his vision of civilization. Prof. Dr. M. Fatih Andı noted that understanding Karakoç’s intellectual heritage offers a enriching opportunity for contemporary readers to better understand the present through his historical and philosophical insights. The program is open to literature and thought enthusiasts aged 16 and older, with limited capacity.
