Turkish literary reading programs

Overview

Various municipalities in Turkey have launched cultural programs focused on significant literary figures. In Samsun, the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and the Samsun Branch of the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti organized sessions to analyze the work Safahat by Mehmet Âkif Ersoy in its original Ottoman Turkish context.

In Istanbul, the Esenler Municipality introduced an eight week program titled “Sezai Karakoç Okumaları” to examine the poetry and philosophical prose of Sezai Karakoç. Led by Prof. Dr. M. Fatih Andı, the workshop explores Karakoç’s aesthetic views and his concept of “Diriliş” (Resurrection).
