Istanbul food poisoning: 30 people hospitalized in Esenyurt

Approximately 30 people were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul after consuming chicken doner at a restaurant in the Talatpaşa neighborhood. Victims reported symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Local authorities have sealed the establishment and collected food samples for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause. The restaurant owner's representative claimed the business maintains hygiene standards and stated that the doner is purchased frozen from a wholesaler, suggesting they may seek legal action against the supplier.

In a separate but related food safety incident, several labor unions have called for a full-day boycott of the cafeteria at Beylikdüzü State Hospital on October 5. This follows reports that over 30 healthcare workers fell ill after meals served between September 28 and September 30. Unions stated that one employee required intensive care and are demanding an independent, transparent investigation into the hospital's food safety and hygiene protocols.
