ESÜHMİB exceeds $2 billion in seafood and animal product exports
The Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Union (ESÜHMİB) has reached a new export milestone, surpassing $2 billion between August 14, 2025, and August 13, 2026. This represents a 13.5% increase from the previous year's $1.763 billion. Over the last 25 years, the union has grown its export volume approximately 40-fold from $50 million in 2001.
ESÜHMİB accounts for roughly 50% of Turkey's total exports in fisheries and animal products. It is also the first food exporters' union within the Aegean Exporters' Associations to exceed the $2 billion mark. The fisheries sector was the primary driver, contributing $1.596 billion, or approximately 80% of the total export value.
Key product contributors include sea bass at $682 million, sea bream at $524 million, and Turkish salmon at $253 million. Other exports included eggs ($169.5 million), poultry ($137.5 million), dairy products ($39.5 million), and honey ($15.5 million). The union now exports to 122 countries. Italy is the top destination with $255 million, followed by Russia at $241 million and Greece at $236 million.
