České dráhy supervisory board to meet regarding CEO Michal Krapinec
The supervisory board of the state railway operator České dráhy is scheduled to meet next Wednesday to address the status of CEO Michal Krapinec, who recently relinquished his 'Confidential' level security clearance. Krapinec stated he no longer requires the clearance, but Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik noted that holding such a clearance was a condition of his selection as CEO in 2022.
While České dráhy maintains that the loss of clearance does not impede Krapinec’s ability to perform his duties, the situation has drawn political scrutiny. SPD leader Tomio Okamura has criticized Krapinec regarding service issues on train lines, specifically citing a lack of toilet paper on certain routes. Okamura has called for a resolution from Minister Bednárik, suggesting the situation regarding the CEO’s leadership may evolve.
The supervisory board meeting, which was moved forward from its original mid-September date, is seen by some observers as a potential turning point for Krapinec’s tenure, despite the company recently securing major contracts and seeing increased passenger numbers.
