Eskişehir apartment death of 63‑year‑old man after weeks of foul odor
In the Büyükdere neighbourhood of Eskişehir, Turkey, 63‑year‑old Yaşar A., a single man with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, was not heard from for about 15 days. Neighbours noticed a strong, unpleasant smell emanating from his first‑floor flat on Dinçtürk Street and reported it to the emergency number 112. Police and health teams arrived, entered the apartment and found Yaşar A. dead. The odor was so intense that residents and passersby wore masks to avoid inhalation.
The body was taken to a hospital morgue for an autopsy, and a formal investigation into the cause of death has been opened by the prosecutor’s office and police.
