Suspicious apartment deaths in Turkey

In early July 2026, a 63‑year‑old man was found dead in an Eskişehir apartment after weeks of a foul odor emanating from the residence. Local authorities noted the unusual smell and began an investigation, treating the death as suspicious.

Later that month, on 30 July 2026, retired market and neighbourhood guard Ercüment Kınacı was discovered dead in his Manisa apartment under similar circumstances. Neighbours had reported a strong odor, prompting police, fire, and medical teams to enter the flat. Kınacı was found motionless with blood stains nearby; his death was deemed suspicious and an autopsy ordered while a criminal investigation continued.

Both cases involve unexplained deaths linked to persistent foul odors in private dwellings in Turkey, prompting police to treat them as potential homicides and launch forensic examinations.
